940 dead, no power at all 900 1993

Hello Guys & Gals,

I've go a 1993 945 turbo wagon. Yesterday evening I went to the grocery store and as I almost pulled into the spot my car died...

No power to anything. Car would not turn over, lights , nothing. I took a peek around and was ill equipped to fix anything in the dark. Especially since I had no clue.

Called for a two truck and noticed that when I got off the phone with them that the clock was ticking. I turned the ignition key and the stereo light flashed for 1 second, went off and clock stopped ticking.

The clock stopped working after that and came back on in around 5-10 minutes. I turned the key again, stereo again lit for 1 second then dead.

I had a MultiMeter in the car with me and checked the battery which was good.

No power to anything. Dead. Tried to start it a moment ago as it's been in the drive all evening and again nothing, No funny noise. Dead.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!

    1. remove the positive battery cable and wire brush both the cable inside and battery positive thoroughly

    2. all smaller wires that also attach to the positive terminal thru the bolt remove ALL corrosion down to bare metal

    3. reconnect and retry

      problem solved 900 1993

      Hello,

I followed your advice and corrosioin was the issue at the battery terminals

I called myself cleaning them the other day. I also left the positive a bit loose by mistake

After I methodically cleaned each one and the three additional wire ends attached to the positive terminal. I was feeling pretty confident that this was indeed the issue.

When I opened my drivers door and the lights came on I was very happy!

      Thanks to all who responded!
