wiring info needed for 240 turbo

My engine service wire harness (oil light, starter sol., alt lamp, etc.) is in real bad shape--insulation flaking off on the motor side of the 8 wire junction block on the firewall. So far none are shorting out---but it's inevitable they will--at the worst time. I have made harnesses for non-turbo 240's but this is my first for a turbo---it's a 1984 245ti. The wire harness part for the fuel injection (K-jet) is in good shape -- so I want to use the existing wire stubs at the junction block as a starter to solder new wires in place. I'll run the new harness separately - splitting it for functions on the intake side and exhaust side. My dilemma--I haven't been able to determine what each of the wires services without disturbing the insulation---such as it is. The turbo uses all 8 spots - non turbos do not. Aside from the three I already mentioned -- plus oil pressure gauge, water temp and -- (a/c comp?) brings me to 6 spots. What are the other two for? thanks in advance -- Dave

Which 8 wire junction block?

Thanks Bruce -- I did not notice the second line of your post. I'd like to get this done before Sunday as I have a photo job at Pocono Raceway. If I can't have it completed by then I'll drive the "Volvo From Heck" -- my track oriented 144 -- no hardship -- in fact a good long ride to give it some exercise. -- Dave

Which 8 wire junction block?

Yes--there's a junction on the r/s coming from the ECU -- my problem is with the one located more central to the firewall. -- Dave

The wire colors are difficult to determine---too deteriorated on the motor side--too dirty/discolored on the chassis side. I've been able to come up with wire diagrams for the non-turbo models (which don't show the junction block anyway) --but not for the Turbo. If I mess around with the junction much the insulation that's left will crumble altogether and is bound to cause shorts. If I can learn what the wires service I wouldn't be afraid to tear into the job. The wires at the top of the junction seem to follow the pattern of my 1980 245 -- the simple ones like coolant temp, starter, etc -- it's the ones lower in the junction that are most difficult to see/determine. -- Dave

from memory-

yellow-temp gauge
blue-control press. reg.
black-oil pressure LIGHT
green-oil pressure GAUGE
red-alt
bl/y-starter

which is why I wanted colors, I only have 6.

fyi-the green ac wires don't go through there. good luck, chuck.
