replacement blower resistor come with connector? 200 1993

Greetings all,
Does anybody know if the oem blower motor resistor from FCP comes with the connector that goes into switch? It sure "looks" like it does but you know the accuracy of those product pictures sometimes. The reason is I want to finish up the motor/resistor removal but I 'm still a few days away from getting the parts. It would be easier to cut the resistor wires off at the connector to thread thru the hole in the blower housing rather than this "depinning" thing which is not working for me.
Thanks,
Robb
ps: This is definitely not the purgatory on earth job I was imaging for so many years . I thought about doing the chainsaw method but because Art's cleanflametrap guide is just so darn good I decided to do it the right way. I'm actually enjoying understanding how so much of the under dash goes together and really no single task is that hard - there's just a lot of tasks.

I have not purchased the OEM resistor. I would have preferred that over aftermarket but I haven't seen OE at the usual vendors until now.

They (FCP) claim it's genuine Volvo and the picture is definitely that of the genuine Volvo item. And in the pic it does have the connector. So I would say there's a better than even chance that, yes, it does have the connector.

I would only worry that having ordered the genuine Volvo part they might ship the crappy MTC resistor, which should be avoided at all costs. Though it's been my experience and that of others here, that when they send the wrong item they will then send the correct item at no additional cost.

It would be easier to cut the resistor wires off at the connector...

Yes, it would be easier when removing the old one. I hope you're not going to do this for installation of the new.

The individual wires are easy to remove from the connector. If it's not, "working," for you, you must be doing it wrong.

Thanks Bulletproof. It came today (that 2 day UPS air is amazing - it shipped in the morning and arrived around 5 that day) and it's definitely oem it has the connector and I will be re-approaching that "de-pinning" because the connector won't fit thru that hole even with grommet removed.

Good deal. I'm glad you got the OE item.

As I recall, FCP has mostly offered the inferior aftermarket variety resistor in the past. Not to single them out. Other vendors were and, I suppose, still are doing the same.

FCP, if you ask, will supply genuine Volvo parts depending, I guess, on availability.

But I see that the OE resistor is what is now pictured and identified as such on their site. I have no way of knowing but I wonder if customer complaints are the reason for this.

I borrowed this pic from a previous thread on the subject. Thanks to darkdelta for providing it.

You can see why recipients of this particular item are less than impressed with it.

Just finishing up this morning with the dash re-assembly. Really not a bad job but surely one of the most time consuming that I've ever done on this 240. On the - de-pinning, I finally figured it out but also that with a minute of filing on the housing the connector will fit thru the hole and the extra gap is easily convered by the grommet so that's an alternative way. On the quality of the resistor, the price points say it all - the oem resistor from FCP was $78 while the aftermarket from eeuro was $21. I can't see doing this job without dash removal but then maybe that's where the blower motor legend starts with people trying to do it with the dash on? Finally, I had no 7th "secret screw" holding the dash on - maybe the 93 is different or maybe the PO had the fan done once already and they left it out on re-assembly

            The Seventh Screw 200 1993

            Hey Robb,

I just got a chance to work on a 93 today. Indeed, no secret screw #7. Also, the screws holding the top of the front console panel to the frame are new to me. Lots of surprises in MY 1993, including the easy access to the blower motor ground wire terminal. Thanks for the heads up!

Take a look at the tab here. That's what is keeping the "pin" in the plastic connector housing. A small jeweler's screwdriver or a large paper clip...

And this is how you get to it.

"By the way if, you're wondering where the Bluetooth name originally came from, it named after a Danish Viking and King, Harald Blåtand (translated as Bluetooth in English), who lived in the latter part of the 10th century. Harald Blåtand united and controlled Denmark and Norway (hence the inspiration on the name: uniting devices through Bluetooth). He got his name from his very dark hair which was unusual for Vikings, Blåtand means dark complexion. However a more popular, (but less likely reason), was that Old Harald had a inclination towards eating Blueberries , so much so his teeth became stained with the colour, leaving Harald with a rather unique set of molars. And you thought your teeth were bad..." -- Palo Pacific
