Oil Cooler - Which is Better? 900 1994

I have a Mitsubishi LP Turbo on my B230FT with water cooling. I've seen an older version of an oil cooler for sale that was used on 760 Turbos back in 1989.

Is my later model coolant fed oil cooler a better design than the older oil cooler with it own heat exchanger? Just want to stay as cool as possible.

Oil Cooler - Which is Better? 900 1994

I ran into this a couple of years ago and had the same discussion with no definitive answer. I converted a 1991 SE with an external cooler to a newer type from a 1994 940t--had to change some pipes and eliminate the oil cooler.

I'd guess that the external cooler is better but it was forsaken for cost reasons. So, probably if you want MAX performance stay with it, if not, it is probably an overkill as all 940 dropped it after 1991 I believe without any adverse side effects. The coolers tend to leak and be messier.
