I have a 122 that was given to me. However we cant find how to prove the year model. Also where is the official VIN number is located.

vlvworld.com has production numbers by year, so if you get the VIN, you can figure out the year.

The site is a little annoying to figure it out.

VIN 120-130

I guess you didn't see my response to your previous post so here it is again.

Early 122S have the VIN stamped directly into the sheet metal between the heater valve and heater box close to the edge of the firewall.

Later 122S have the VIN stamped into the area just above the heater box.

In both cases, it is sometimes necessary to remove paint to see the numbers clearly. Or you can try to use some tracing paper to get an imprint of the numbers.

Eric, I looked there on my 62, I didn't see anything, must be the paint. So give us a clue to the number of characters we're looking for. The St of Ct "assigned" me a vin number. 2 plus the chassis number. The previous vin from California, where it was first registered, was 62 plus that chassis number, which tells me that either that is the number I'm looking for or it was made up a long time ago. I have the California title and that's what it says. I could not get the inspector here to use the same number.
