Voluparts Center Console? Durable? 200

Has anyone purchased a Voluparts reproduction center console? Is the plastic any more durable than a used one? I have had a couple which unfortunately shattered. One was a genuine Volvo unit which had been in original packaging for about 20 years.

I would consider buying one if the durability is good.

I couldn't find a price on the console but door pockets are ~60. That's not bad.

I see they have the retainer clips for seat-back adjustment knob. I'll order some of those.

      Voluparts Center Console? Durable? 200

Did not know about Voluparts, until I read this post.

I was replacing the exhaust on my 1980 244 B21F. I had collected all the pipes, hangers, clamps from the CAT back, from FCP (which once upon a time was Groton, and basically mail order from a Conn dealer). The short pipe from the CAT the the first muffler I managed to snag locally.

When I got into it I found that the Header Pipe had a hole and worse, the CAT (the original) mounting plates were thin and shot - Rusted away, even though the CAT was fine, they were basically not serviceable after I got it all apart.

I had a hard time locating the front pipe, and realyy did not want to spring for a new CAT, since the car has Historical Plates (no inspections) and I only drive it about 1500M/year. I thought about having a short pipe made with flanges on either end, to bridge the CAT gap. I thought about welding new triangle mounts to the old CAT.

But I still needed the front pipe...which seemed to run about $95, from single source I found.

The other option was to find a PreCAT front pipe. Like one for a 1976 240.

Voluparts had a front pipe for the 1980, with a CAT, BUT they also had a new PreCAT pipe...for $68. Which of course I bought. UPS was a bit more, since the pipe is so long, but.

So,from my experience Voluparts had the part...for an very OLD VOLVO, in stock.

the funny thing is that I've been driving these Volvos since 1983, and I never came across Volupart...in years of searching for parts sources, until now. I've never before seen them given as a source in BrickBoard posting.

So Check them out. http://www.voluparts.com/ And report back.

trichard wrote--"try swedish car parts bensenville ill." I had a very poor experience with SCP just recently. They sent me parts they knew would not fit (actual correct parts are out of production) even though I sent them measurements -- then had the nerve to ask for more money to send more incorrect parts--and then told me not to contact them again--no refund offered. A complaint to the credit card company eventually netted me a full refund. -- Dave

        that's interesting.

I've yet to order from them. but they are the only parts house that seems to have a front Exhaust downpipe for a B21 - 1980.

I've had their link and even posted it here a few times when people are looking for parts. Each time I've posted it, I've asked that "if you use them" please post your experience.

        thanks for your input.

    3D printing 200

    Hi Adirondack,

    I don't know the answer.

On my free time, I created this 3D model of the center console, I am waiting for a printing price to come down then I will be able to test print and make some adjustment.

I don't know when but the file will be available for free when I complete the testing, you just need to send it for printing.

One of my friend has a really nice printing machine (cost him about $100,000), he will allow me to print only once for the console and that's not enough. I need to print about 3-4 times to get it right. So for now I have been just waiting...
