SRS Light - Code 5 200 1990

The previous owner of my car had removed the SRS indicator light bulb. Upon addressing this the light lit due to error code 5 indicating resistance too high.

I've cleaned the orange connector to the left side of the center console several times, but this fix doesn't seem to last long. Is there anything else I can check to resolve this? I'd rather get the system working if I can than remove the bulb.

SRS Light - Now Code 3 200 1990

Things just took a turn in a different direction.

The car just back back from a trip and the SRS light was on solid. I had a difficult time reading the code, but eventually it spit a Code 3. Code 3 = Voltage on the test terminal. The test terminal is showing ~7V.

Any pointers before I dive into the center console? I pulled out one of the blanks and see the test terminal wire heading into the harness. Looked normal from that limit view.

No good can come from "diving into the center console" but you might look under the driver's seat where that wire eventually winds up.

Around the turn of the last century, a very famous electrical engineer gave up his trade and decided to travel around the world and discover other cultures. On his way back through the US, he stumbled upon a very poor and isolated Navajo village. He was so awed that his fellow Americans could be living in such destitution, that he sought out the Chief, to see what he could do to help. After several hours, the engineer finally succeeded in explaining the concept of electricity to the Chief, he implored the Chief to think of some way to implement the new technology.

After a few minutes, the Chief scratched his head and said, "Well, you know the outhouse is very cold and dark in the winter. Perhaps a light bulb would make that a better place for our people.

Needless to say, the engineer fulfilled the request, and became the first tourist to wire ahead for a reservation.

Would you happen to have the pins 1 through 4 wire colors for the crash sensor 4-pin connector. I opened it and it released all of the wires and I am not 100% sure of the order. Thanks

All sorted out. I'm lucky to have one of the best Volvo shops in the country close by. They referred to another car for reference to get the wiring correct. Code 3 was a bad crash sensor. Code 5 was a problem with the instrument cluster circuit board.

Thanks. That makes a lot more sense than a well protected wire suddenly shorting in the center console. If the module under the seat looks as rough as that it would explain a lot of things.
