Build sheet source & 72 import number 1800 1972

When I had my 63 MBZ, I could obtain a copy of the original build sheet from Mercedes. Is it possible to do the same with an old Volvo? If so, does anyone know the source address? Also, Where can I find info on how many 1972 ES's were imported to the USA? I think the combined manufacturing total of 72 & 73 is around 14,000?

With a little research I found that the total production number of P1800ES's is 8077. I still can't find evidence on how many ES's were imported and specifically 72's to the USA.

Although this registry is incomplete, it might give you a "rough" idea as to what country the cars went to:

Shoot a mail to niklas.sindelbonn@volvo.com with the VIN number and any number details of your car, and ask him nicely to find you the manufacturing and delivery details of your car. Numbers made is fairly well known but there are stories of a couple of extras put together from "leftovers" at the end of production. I don't think the number of LHD/RHD cars is know but you can always ask. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Niklas is the current Volvo archivist at the heritage museum.
