I don't find my book, so: I plan to change fluids on AT and differential on 1990 and 1992 240's with auto and regular diff. quantity and type? Thanks!

IMHO - I would spend the extra money and put in full synthetic ATF. I've had great luck over the years with synthetic tranny fluid (both automatic and manual trannies) and I also run synthetic ATF in my 850's PS system. As an example, the 850 at 249k still has its original tranny, PS pump and steering rack.

Wished I had used synthetic in my 240's systems. Too cheap at the time... Before I sold that car at 300k, I had to replace the rack and the tranny leaked like a sieve...:)

240/740/940 - it's all the same.

Uncle bmwjohn,

Find your Volvo automobile owner manual for any year and any model Volvo, from the Shrine.

http://www.volvocars.com/us/own/owner-info/owners-manuals

However, others will mention specific makes and variations of fluids for your applications.

A passionately debate topic, you can find threads on this topic using the well-working search feature.

However, the current state of the debate should come as replies from actual folks that know way more about this stuff than me.

Questions?

Hope that helps.
