Lights Speedometer 900 1993

Hello!
First of all im sorry for my poor English =)

I got a 945 -93 with a problem, i have no lights in my speedometer or where i adjust the heat or fan, the only lights that work is all the warning lights,handbrake,seatbealt...

i Think that the "rheostat",that grey Little box on the backside of the meter i broken,i have also Heard that you can unscrew it and replace it with a cabel between 2 of the 4 srews? Does anyone know witch screws?
I really hope someone understand my very poor Swedish school English? =)

Is it possible that you do not actually have the headlights on, but you are seeing the exterior lights that are actually daytime running lights.

Move the headlight switch back and forth and then make sure that the headlights are actually on.

Also - does the headlight switch feel OK?

The headlight switches on some 850s failed when their cases came apart.

If your switch is like an 850, you can remove it by prying on one side with a small screwdriver. One side if the switch has a clip that will break if you pry it too hard, the other side has a bump that pries out quite easily. I do not remember which side is which. Try each side gently.

The case on the headlight switch is a box held on by 4 tabs in slots - the slots break. It is possible to repair the case with electrical tape.

Your english is fine - most of us do not know ANY Swedish!

    Dear jan.h@kansson.se,

Hope you're well. Your English is fine!!

Did the lights near the speedometer all stop working at the same time?

Do other lights - those near the fuel gauge and the temperature gauge - work?

Did the lights near the heater go out at the same time as those nest to the speedometer?

I've not seen many reports on this board of a rheostat failing. When you move the rheostat switch, do any lights get brighter (or dimmer)?

Answers to these questions will help to figure out what has failed.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

      Hi Spook.
      thx for your answer.

I Think that all lights stopped working at the same time , i just got this car from a friend of mine.
no other lights works around there, only the warning light and the low fuel light. =)
no lights near the "shift stick"
makes no diffent if i remove the rheostat.
