P1800ES, My shifter boot will not stay under the console. It has no way to keep in place except gravity.
Due to heat off the engine double stick tape is not an option. Does any one have a solution that may have worked? Has anyone used a different type of boot or is my boot just getting old and stiff like me. Or will have to just purchase a new one?

Is it possible the lower lip of the boot is supposed to be tucked down through the hole in the trans tunnel?

Current rides: 2005 Volvo S80 2.5T, 2003 Volvo V70 2.4NA, 1973 Volvo 1800ES (getting ever closer to road worthiness)

I do not think it goes into the tunnel. If I could attach it to the tunnel so it would not move when shifting, it might be ok. The carpet, top side of the console, was actually stapled (from the bottom) to the console. Not many options to make the boot secure.

You could try a large piece of Dynamat instead of the tape. That should be able to cope with the heat.
