Sunroof/Moonroof Fix for Water in Rear Ceiling 900 1995

I don't know if many folks are working on Moonroofs/Sunroofs but thought I'd add what I found. I have been working on the Moonroof on a 1995 940 I bought a couple weeks ago. After replacing the switch and motor from a parts car, the moonroof now works but after checking the channels for drainage I found water coming down not only under the pillars but also the rear of the headliner on the sides on top of the rear pillars.
I removed the 3 plastic buttons holding the rear of the headliner and the clothes hooks from the side and could pull down the headliner on the sides. The drain tubes were connected to the channels with zip ties and were leaking there.
I replaced the zip ties with hose clamps and that seems to have fixed the leak. Here's a picture with the new hose clamps:

    Dear jd620,

Hope you're well. Is it correct to presume you checked to ensure the drain hoses are not clogged? I ask, because with gravity drains, water will take the course of least resistance. Thus, even if the zip ties weren't at "max tight", water would tend to flow down the drain tubes, unless there's a "dip" in the tubing.

If water still does not drain, remove hose clamps and use compressed air to clear the drain hoses. If that doesn't work, then a piece of soft iron wire, with the tip rounded, can be used "to snake" the drain tubes. Rounding the end of the wire helps to ensure it doesn't punch a hole in the drain tube.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

Spook, I actually took the hoses off and could barely get my mouth to the hose and found I could easily blow through them. Like I mentioned before, I poured water in the channels and it came out beneath the front and rear pillars but, unfortunately leaked were the zip ties were supposed to secure the hoses to the channel ends.
