Misdiagnosis . . . 200 1990

I recently thought the bearing in my power steering pump were going bad. I got another pump and hoses (pick-n-pull) and began the job of replacing the "faulty" pump only to find out the noisy bearing sound is/was coming from the AC Compressor. It is a 1990 245 and the AC has not worked since I bought the car. Would it be a good idea to try and get a can of AC oil and have it put into the line to help with the noise? Thanks in advance for ANY advice.

If you are not planning on using the AC, you would be wise to remove the compressor. If it seizes, it could damage other stuff.

Most belts have their lengths right in their number - measure the new, shorter path and get a belt to fit.

Most indies who service 240s would know the right belt.

Bypass compressor? 200 1990

"the AC has not worked since I bought the car."
If you don't need the A/C, maybe you could find a shorter belt to go directly to the steering pump bypassing the compressor?

No. AC oil wouldn't be of any help. Its the bearing at the compressor's clutch. May the photos below explain this (photos not mine but taken from the web just for illustration):

A lot of work must be done to get to the noisy bearing. Its best to let the AC shop do this with their specialised tools to pull things out. If it reaches this stage its best to just replace the old bearing with a new one (rather than putting fresh grease into an old bearing as in the photo above). The bearing is sealed (front and back) with rubber rings. Thats why the AC oil method wouldn't work.

Art did suggest getting a junkyard compressor to act as an intermediate pulley in the discussion below which I think a highly practical move.

Squeaky AC clutch bearing 200 1990

If you're not using the AC, lubricant in the lines won't have any use. The squeaky bearing is on the other side of the clutch. Someone who's had a chirpy compressor with the clutch disengaged will respond and say how they fixed it without replacing the compressor, I hope. I would make sure the wire is disconnected just to be on the safe side. When the whole thing locks up, it can be dramatic.
