Stalls intermittently at idle/red light/stop sign 700 1991

Having a problem off and on where my 740 (Regina) runs poorly and sometimes even stalls at a red light; also sometimes when pulling away from a stop. It runs great on the highway, also starts fine
first thing in the morning. I thought of wires/plugs/cap/rotor replacement, but I would say that's been done about 30k-50k ago (I don't know, may be able to look up, not sure). Plus kinda expensive to replace all and that cap location is a bitch. Clean out throttle body? Looking for ideas. Thanks.

Stalls intermittently at idle/red light/stop sign 700 1991

When I first got my 91 , 17 years ago , it would do the same thing . Then a tech friend of mine noticed that the connection to the IAC was off. Reconnecting it solved the stall problem you described. If yours is connected , it might be a good idea to clean the contacts.

Stalls intermittently at idle/red light/stop sign 700 1991

Hi there,
So we took the IAC valve out and realized, of course, that is the regina system, so we couldn't find instructions for cleaning or checking to make sure this is working correctly. It seems as though it is a "closed system" part, so I didn't want to put any fluid in it or anything.
SO...
Can the regina IAC be cleaned,
What is an easy way of checking electrics, and air flow? Just similar to the LH2.4 instructions?
Thanks

ICV location; clean with? 700 1991

I've done a lot of things to my Volvos but have never cleaned ICV. Need location and any advice is appreciated. I have throttle body cleaner if that is needed.
Thanks.

ICV location; clean with? Found answer to cleaning question 700 1991

Talked to a Volvo mechanic. REGINA idle control valve cannot be cleaned (he cleans the Bosch idle control valve with brake cleaner). The good news: he has never seen a Regina idle control valve go bad! So I must look for my problem else where - Volvo mechanic says to look at temp sensor (black) or
computer relay. Now I have to remember where they are.
