Rear Wiper Arm Interchangeability 700

Hi everyone,

I have a 1988 740 wagon and would love to get a rear wiper arm for it. This is the 10mm one. I know if I had the 13mm one I could get one off of an 850, v70 but cannot find a substitution for mine.

Does anyone know of a rear wiper arm that will work for me? Maybe off of a non Volvo car?

Thank you for any help

    Hi Moustacio,

    Happy Friday (all day long!)!

I am unsure as I believe the spindle has a conical shape with splines where the rear wiper arm press fits onto the spindle, then followed up by the nut to secure it.

You better bet may be to call around your local (sadly) Volvo equipped salvage yards around Denver, and maybe bring a nut that fits to the thread on your 1988 rear wiper spindle, and see if it fit. Yet I'll bet the wiper arm from an earlier 700-900 wagon will fit, yet the arm and blade length may vary. The 240 (245) wagons had a 12 or 13 (?) mm securing nut.

row52.com did not indicate a junkyard near. Cal around at the salvage yards and search craigslist.

    Hope that helps.

    Happy Friday.

    Duffed.

Hi and thank you much for the reply.

I guess I'll have to keep digging around the boneyards.

Funny enough I found what I needed a while back on a 740, came back the next day and it was gone. Oh well at least another Volvo person got what they were after.

      Thanks again
