Where can I source a replacement ignition lock cylinder (tumbler)? 200 1989

Fortunately my car starts fine, but I am having ever increasing difficulty turning the key to the off position. I replaced the electrical ignition switch about six months ago, now I feel it is the key and tumbler mechanism that is rapidly failing.

I thought IPD carried these, but they seem to have less and less for the 200 series every day. No luck at FCP either. Is this a dealer only part? Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

CineMan

Before you replace it, have tried lubricating it? Either with graphite, or some form of spray lubricant?

Brake parts cleaner spray (using the tiny straw provided with the can)is a safe way to clean out a lock that's stiff or jammed.

Hi CineMan. I had a similar problem on my 'other' car-not a Volvo. But it was going to be an expensive fix so I called a locksmith. He came out to my house and spent a couple hours re-doing the tumblers and charged me $100.No problem since. Make sure you get a good ,experienced one because there are some real rip-offs out there.I think that would help you though.--------------Tinkerbelle
