Hood release 444-544 1965

Hi,

Quick question - where (specifically) is the hood release supposed to be mounted on a '65 544? Thanks

Hood release 444-544 1965

Hi rbraun,

Välkommen to the brickboard!

I'll guess your mighty, yet powerful, and lovely, 1965 Volvo PV544 is new to you, also?

If I recall correctly (iirc), at the center of the dash, at the interior side of the bulkhead firewall sheet metal (or plate steel as it is a Volvo ha-ha!)under the dash and up is the release level. The lever you tug on for release is connected directly to the hood release. (I did look it up. Yet am unsure.)

Pull down on the lever and the hood should release such that from the exterior you can gently lift the hood up from the lip, or edge, below the front window. Lift the hood up fully to reveal the engine bay.

See the hood retaining latch in the hood released position just above the battery in this image of a 1965 PV544 engine bay? On the interior side of the sheet metal.

You have a fine host of PV folks right here to help and imbue insight with your Volvo-ing endeavors!

Questions?

I'm all 240 owning, for now. Hopes for a 164 or a 110-120-130 something, someday.

Hope that helps.
