Blower motor, hot and cold. 200 1993

When it's freezing cold, and before the engine warms, if I turn the blower motor on it screeches in all speeds except high. If it's warm outside it makes no noise at all.
Does this sound like the bearings for the motor? If so, my plan it to drill through the blower motor casing and squirt some oil toward each end of the casing. Did this with a 240 I used to own and it worked good.
I would do this instead of taking the dash apart and replacing the motor, a job I have done twice and do not want to do again.

December 6, 2014 I replied to a post by Vio el Vio who was looking at doing this kind of lubrication. I made a mistake on the photo size for the motor cut view so the text ended up very small. These pictures are in BrickPix dec 6 2014.

I did drill with success heater motors in my two 240, 1982 and 1991. It takes less than two hours to do it if you have all the tools needed on hand.

I think bushings in your motor are dry and fudged, they turn with the shaft. Possibly have little wear.

If you are going to attack lubrication this way I have written a preliminary method for OEM Volvo motors that you can use at your own risk though. It is about 10 pages, has pictures of heater box holes, drilling location, tools needed, how much lubricant used, etc.

I can send it to you as a pdf format if you ask me on my email: proro245 at yahoo dot ca.

I expect to hear about your suggestions and comments.

A) bushings
B) Yes
C) They can be cleaned and oiled with about a 50% success rate if caught soon enough
