What are the symptoms when a starter is going to fail? A random no turnover? A complete no crank?

Hi,

I just wrote this in my cars 200's section but it can pertain to your model as well since the same starter are used.
Give it a look see!

The next day was warmer and she started up like new. My conclusion is that the starter was frozen anyone agree?

Not likely. In Minnesota we get lots of days below freezing and starter motors do not freeze even when the vehicle is driven in wet conditions.

Your battery may be on it last legs unless you are using straight 50W motor oil.
