I clean d my throttle body - looking in the light I can see daylight on top and sides . It was my understanding that the gap was only supposed to at the bottom. The 240 has over 250k could this cause a vacuum leak at idle that I have been trying to resolve?

If you are saying there is Daylight shining threw around the Brass Butterfly on the sides you have to keep in mind that there needs to be some room on the sides as well or the butterfly could not rotate. With only 250K on the car I would not think the Throttle body components are worn out.

Mine have always had a sliver on top and bottom...YMMV.
