iPhone holders for 7/900 cars 700

What recommendations do you have for holding an iPhone? I use a Garmen for long distance travel/navigation but would like to be able to have a mount that people have found to be a good fit for the interior in 7/9 series cars. Thanks.

Most of the time I use nothing but there are occasional times when I need to use the phone since I am now semi-retired and have a driving business. I prefer using my Garmin for navigation assistance because of the larger and more legible maps and clear verbal directions. I have a magnetic Scosche mount specifically for my phone that I have attached to the closest vent grill so I can minimize any distraction. Works pretty well. I suggest using the verbal option to direct you so you can keep two hands on the wheel. Google maps or Waze can do that.

Whatever you buy, don't skimp on the mount. You want something as secure as possible...:)

      Thanks for your reply.

How does the magnet come into play? The vents are plastic aren't they?

        Randy,

You attach a magnetic strip to the back of your phone. If you have a cover, remove that first then reattach the cover after the magnetic strip is attached. The magnetic strip will then hold your phone to the phone mount (also magnetized). The mount clips onto the vent grill.

The best place to mount your cell phone is in the glove box, turned off!

I can appreciate your concern. There are times however when I find myself in need of some navigation help from google maps. My preference would be to have a device to hold the phone so as to have both hands free to drive and my gaze directed towards the road.

I take a post-it note, write down the pertinent info, and stick it to the lip of the dash. Make sure you can read it easily, at a glance.

Otherwise, you will need to make your own holder and attach it to the vent grill. The problem then becomes the small print that is hard to read, or scrolling down to get the "next" set of instructions.

Many states have restrictions on cell phone usage, regardless of how it is being used, but just for having the device 'connected' to the web.
