Pre 85 Sun Visors - Any hacks? 200 1979

Has anyone attempted to refurbish the older pre 85 sun visors that turn to mush in the middle and end up looking like a full diaper?

Wondering if I can slice one end and insert something rigid?

Will a post 85 work in an older 240? I know the swivel mount is square instead of round, but can the new visor be taken off the rod and transplanted to the old assembly?

TIA.

    Pre 85 Sun Visors - Any hacks? 200 1979

    Hiya H20man,

    Sure Happy it's Thursday!

I have a set of 1979 black sun visors from my 1979 242 GT in my 1991 240 sedan.

The vinyl (I guess?) that receives sunlight at the top of the visor is beginning to split.

I dunno about going backwards, yet imagine it should. The mount is different between sedan/coupe and wagon. Dunno if year effects sun visor fitment between coupe/sedan and wagon.

Else, I've not had to repair them as you describe you want to. I've seen this happen to 140-series when encountering them in salvage yards with the visor stuffing losing form and expanding.

Else, I'm sure other have a fix for you.

Sorry not to be more help.

    Hope that does help.
