When you install a new headliner, should the windlass for the doors be put on first> Thanks

I have been checking into headliner replacement. From what I see, the answer is yes, that windlass is the first step in interior work.

The installation of the headliner & windlace will be easier if you make a tool to tuck the edges under the metal strips. I used a stiff putty-knife with the corners rounded off & sanded smooth to reduce the chance of doing any damage to the vinyl headliner. Something like a credit card will work too, but the putty-knife is easier to hold & manipulate. Above all, be patient, & work slowly. This is NOT a 15 minute job. Also, don't attempt to do it while the car is parked outside in the hot sun. Good luck
