Codes 311, 132, 221 900 1993

Read the codes on the 93 940 last week - 311 signal missing fr speedo, 132 battery voltage too high or low, 221 fuel trim.

These codes, which came back after clearing, seem so very unrelated as to make me suspicious.

Car runs fine - maybe a trifle of rpm hunting on initial start.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Marty

Disconnect the plug on your fuel ecu and have a look at the pins for traces of white (tin oxidation) which might indicate moisture. Clean and reconnect and re-check for further DTCs. Call me in the morning.

Art,

Access to the car has been terminated until next weekend at which time I am hopeful that I can manage the disassembly required, clean those connections and report back.

Dear Oleseahorse,

Hope you're well. At the risk of laboring the obvious, the engine control module contacts are most easily cleaned by use of Dexoit or a similar aerosol corrosion remover. This chemical cocktail dissolves and flushes away corrosion. The corrosion may be only a few molecules thick and so invisible. Deoxit will leave you with clean metal.

With some luck, you'll clear the codes with a few short spritzes of corrosion-remover.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
