I had a leaking rear axle .So I took the cover off to replace oil & gasket & now the abs light comes on & the speedo odo doesnt work now,,,

Those sensor wires are old and living (dying?) in a poor environment.

The sensor wire cones into the trunk area where there is a connector. Disconnect the lead and use a meter to check each of the two wires for continuity. I'd bet one or perhaps both has given up the fight.

I checked them & they were fine,the problem turned out to be gunk on the sensor,,I cleaned it w brake cleaner & put it back together & WELL LA!!!
works just fine.

Hope you;'re well. Glad it was an easy fix!!

I had to remove the remains of the connector - the metal contacts - from the sensor's contacts. I caught a break: PB Blaster weakened the corrosion bond between the connector's contacts and the sensor's contacts. I was able to wiggle-off the connector's contacts using a needle-nosed pliers!

BTW - and this has nothing to do with things Volvo - the French exclamtion of surprise is "Voilà". prounounced "Vuhwah-lah". It means: "behold", "look at that!!!", "Presto", etc.

Ok Ill checks the wires once again,& or swap out the sensor,,
NOW I ran out of beer,,& money,,,how do I fix that??
