HACK7,
I three 240s, an 89', 90', and a 91'.
The 89 & 90 are identical in the way they are set up from an a/c stand point. The 90' has been updated to run on R-134a, however none of the hoses I believe were ever changed over so the gas will eventually permeate out as the molecular size is different from R-12.
On my 91', it too was R-12, but this is when the change over started from a parts perspective leading up to 93'. All the hoses, and evaporators, are the same on 91' through 93'.
On the 93', the condensor changes somewhat, as did the dryer and compressor, but the hoses remained the same. The design of one of the solid metal pipes near the radiator may have changed somewhat as well, but I do not believe it to be a show stopper.
The compressor change from previous years is that there is only a low pressure fill valve, and nothing on the high side. Make sure you fill the new compressor with the correct oil and it should do just fine.
I'm currently in the process of converting mine over to R-134a. I have all the parts, I just now need the time. Unfortunately, that is one thing that I am short on these days. I'm currently working on my 90' for my youngest son to start driving and I ran into somewhat of a snag on the car.
Watch for a post in the coming days. I think everyone on here will like it.
Later,
Matt
