looking for an a/c compressor for my 93 245 200 1993

Hello All,

I'm looking for an a/c compressor for my 93 245. Are the compressors for say a 93 940 the same as the one on the 93 240's?

I'm looking for one that will use the original hose fittings at the compressor end that are original to the 93 240's.

I looked up compressors on Amazon and 1980's - 1993 240's are all listed as the same. No way will an 1989 240 compressor have the same fittings as my 93.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

The difference's will be as follow(s):

- They use different oil, so you'll have to empty it out and clean the old oil out as best as possible,
- Your 89' will have a low and high side fill port. Your 93 will only have a low side fill port

Thanks Matt,

So the fittings on a 1989 240 a/c compressor are the same as a 93 240?

I thought 93 was the only 240 year with factory R-134. I know the hose is specific to the 93 240.

I bought the compressor listed for all 240's including 93 from Amazon. Got it today. Says R-12 on the box.

I took the fittings off of an 89 at a pick a part just in case, but on second thought I'd just like to use my original hoses on the proper compressor

Thanks

HACK7,

I three 240s, an 89', 90', and a 91'.

The 89 & 90 are identical in the way they are set up from an a/c stand point. The 90' has been updated to run on R-134a, however none of the hoses I believe were ever changed over so the gas will eventually permeate out as the molecular size is different from R-12.

On my 91', it too was R-12, but this is when the change over started from a parts perspective leading up to 93'. All the hoses, and evaporators, are the same on 91' through 93'.

On the 93', the condensor changes somewhat, as did the dryer and compressor, but the hoses remained the same. The design of one of the solid metal pipes near the radiator may have changed somewhat as well, but I do not believe it to be a show stopper.

The compressor change from previous years is that there is only a low pressure fill valve, and nothing on the high side. Make sure you fill the new compressor with the correct oil and it should do just fine.

I'm currently in the process of converting mine over to R-134a. I have all the parts, I just now need the time. Unfortunately, that is one thing that I am short on these days. I'm currently working on my 90' for my youngest son to start driving and I ran into somewhat of a snag on the car.

Watch for a post in the coming days. I think everyone on here will like it.

Later,

Matt

Ummmm, pretty sure they will.

I have several sitting in my garage from several 240's, and yes the hose fittings are the same.

I checked them awhile back to make sure.

Matt
