1992 245 maf 200

Hi: have 92 245. Believe the MAF has failed. It bucks and sputters.Swapped in a reserve backup from friend. Same result. Have a new on coming (economy version) Will I have any problems (except, perhaps) poor gas mileage, if I just unplug and run as is for a short while (perhaps a week?)

If your friend's spare MAF didn't change anything you should look elsewhere for the problem. Are there any fault codes stored on the computer? Have you checked to make sure the big accordion hoses from the MAF is free of holes and cracks? Checking those would be a start. Good luck. My spare MAFs came from someone who kept thinking that the MAF was faulty when actually there was a big crack in the accordion hose. He drove for months with it like that.

I second the idea that if swapping the MAF didn't change anything then the MAF isn't the problem. Was the other MAF good?

Get the OBD codes. A bad O2 sensor or ignition problems can be similar to a faulty MAF.

      Good luck.
