    Hi flacito,

More detail helps. How many miles?

In spite of an out of state tune-up, other causes could cause symptoms your all too brief descriptions indicate.

What area or state or region do you reside in? Some hot and humid or snowflake and road salt by the tonne? Or in the dry and hopefully not so dusty desert. The former condition accelerates corrosion (rust and corrosion at bonded contacts like wire harness connectors and the connection of relays and fuses in the relay and fuse platform or box hidden by the ashtray).

You have the repair receipt? What parts and other service did the repair service perform? Are sort of service shop are they? Literate with engine control and configuration of your daughter's 1990 740.

It would to help to know which engine control your daughter's 1990 Volvo 740 comes equipped with. Bendix Rex / Regina or Bosch.

    https://www.ipdusa.com/techtips/10085/how-can-i-tell-if-my-volvo-has-bosch-or-regina-fuel-injection

If Bosch equipped, may include Turbo or not?

1990 700 normally aspirated, whether Bendix Rex (ignition) / Regina (fuel injection), includes the ability to check fault codes. Please read this 700-900 FAQ.

    https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EngineOBDCodes.htm

OBD check does not report on the ignition power stage and all ignition components 'downstream' from it such as the ignition coil, wires, cap and rotor, and plugs. Well, unless weak spark causes an excess emissions (an imbalance between whet the engine consumes and exhaust gas composition the oxygen sensor encounters).

Perform the task "1. Diagnostic Test Mode 1: Fault Code Retrieval" for your engine control version.

If the red light blinks out a code other than 1-1-1, repeat procedure until no new codes display.

If Turbo, and Bosch equipped, I'm uncertain when OBD-1 enabled Bosch engine control came on 700. Maybe by 1991 or 1992?

Another 700-900 FAQ entry - specific to engine tune:

    https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EnginePerformanceSymptoms.htm

    Not comprehensive, yet a start.

See the comment in Car Runs but Won't Re-Start; Bad RPM Sensor.

"... [Chris Herbst] If the car stalls while turning corners, check that the rpm sensor wire isn't split open and grounding on the rear of the engine somewhere when you turn corners or slow down. ..."

Also, we could add, in Art Benstein parlance, to the guess-fest:
    - A heavy keychain interfering with the ignition lock cylinder or electrical contacts. Though it takes years to wear, the lightest of ignition keychains can avoid ignition lock issues. Such wear is cumulative.
    - Stalls at turns at low or full fuel tanks could mean Bosch pre-pump or if Bendix Regina, a failing intank main pump.
    - Issues with the relay / fuse box platform hidden under, in front of, the ashtray. Corrosion at the contacts. Inspect the plastic platform for heat warp like at the fuel injection relay socket. This item need service in all so-equipped 700 and later RWD models to treat corrosion. DeoxIT-D spray or grease can help.

This description is not complete. So, others like Spook can better help you.

May want to use the search feature to find causes of the turn and stall symptoms.

I guess that it is it. Hope that helps.

Was this less than a 1/4 tank of fuel?

Exactly what did they replace and do you know what brand products they used?

A general tune up have no idea what was replaced. As Said previously she drove back from Pa. to NYC without any issues. I asked a friend who is familiar with older cars and he mentioned to look at the throttle body.

I ask because most on here won't use after market cap and rotor. Bosch only. Throttle body possibility. May also be just bad gas/moisture. Bottle of HEET is cheap.
