Water collecting around wiper motor 200 1988

Hi all,

I noticed water collecting on at least one of the mounting bolts for the wiper motor, and some water on the tan foam padding surrounding it. Upon further investigation I can see I had some leaf gunk built up in the corners of the hood closest to that area. Aside from clearing out the leaf gunk, any other suggestions on making sure I don't get water buildup in that area? Seems like I've got a drainage problem so I want to make sure I'm addressing that.

I looked also in the leafguards just above the hood - from what I can see that area looks clear, not sure if there's a way to poke around and double check in the areas that I can's see.

thanks!
Susan

Aside from clearing out the leaf gunk, I can't think of anything. It always surprises me when I get a forceful stream of water directed below the hood hinges. Surprises me how many needles, seeds, and leaves could fit down there, and some of it never fails to ricochet onto my face.

Regarding the drains below the cowl, I believe part of what makes a 240 owner an ideal subject in the LVCOA empire is our inability to keep them clear. Eventually the water drains inside the car.

Sometimes I wonder if our lives are all about the challenge of keeping gases and liquids where they belong.
