My brother is considering rehoming his 76 242. Its solid with somewhat scruffy paint. Decent tires. Manual trans works well. There is (according to a Volvo mechanic) a bad valve but it does seem to run well. Can be balky to start. Engine was rebuilt on a 230 block about a 100K ago after a blow up of the original engine.

Any thoughts as to what might be a fair asking price? Car is in Maryland.

Thoughts as to where to advertise it? Here, ebay? Been a long time since either of us sold a car. Usually they go with the knocker man.

Asking price, I don't know. There is quite a following for flat hood 242s. They are especially scarce on the east coast, where you are. I would advertise it on Craigslist, and someone will see it and put a listing on Tonight's Volvo Orphan on Turbobricks. You might join Turbobricks, and advertise it there.

The selling price will be greater if manual transmission, especially if it has an M46 (overdrive).
