Does anyone know if they ever put VINYL seats in a 164? I saw a '75 last week with vinyl seats, which looked to be original. I know leather was standard, but thought that perhaps towards the end of their production run they used vinyl to save some money. I read somewhere that Volvo lost money on every 164 made. Just curious.

I've never seen anything but leather seats in a 164. I've owned 4 - a '69, a '71, a '73 and a '75. Maybe the car you saw had 140 seats installed? - Dave

They look just like all the other 164 seats I've seen on Youtube. Fronts & rear match. It's a one-owner (deceased) car, but I'll ask his daughter if her dad ever had any upholstery replaced.
