should any good shop be able to power flush my 940 ABS brakes? 900

The shops here all think Volvo is voodoo ... if I take my 940 to a shop, are there any special instructions I should give him?

Good mechanics know how to limit the amount of air that gets in when components have to be replaced; no air at all should get in during a simple fluid replacement.

ANY shop should be able to do it, easy job for anyone. As far as DIY, best with a helper, open the valve, go down, close the valve, let it up. I use a 8mm hose submerged in fluid hooked to the bleed valve.

Doug, are you in the Atlanta area? If so, you might check out these guys:

I use their Marietta shop on occasion and have always been treated well. My daughter has used their Monroe Dr. shop and had the same experience.

Having said that though, if you have an assistant that can push and release the pedal at your command then you don’t really need a “power” flush. Pushing the fluid through the system with the master cylinder is power enough.

A hand-held "Mity-Vac" will allow you to "pull" the fluid out from each caliper. Even better, buy a Motiv Bleeder - allows you to pressurize the system through the master cylinder reservoir and "push" new fluid into the system. I change the brake fluid on mine every year or two - with the Motiv, it's a piece of cake.

No special instructions. Go to an Independent European/Foreign car specialist. Or if necessary a Volvo dealer. Or you could buy a power bleeder and do it yourself. I have one I could sell you.
