opinion? If greasing calipers that have unknown lubricant ... 200 1988

should the caliper pin pockets be cleaned prior to adding a silicone/ceramic grease.

This question is actually not for my Volvo but another vehicle that has slide pins.

    I'd clean them if it's convenient and theres little risk of breaking something while in the process of cleaning.
    On the other hand, I wouldn't lose any sleep over not cleaning them as long as they were working fine prior to taking the pins out. After all, grease is basically dirt and oil.

    I always clean them all before caliper grease.
