B230FT - IPD "Turbo' Cam (or) Volvo 'A' Cam 900 1994

Anybody have a line or where one can purchase a Volvo "A" grind camshaft for my red block B230FT?

Considering a power band increase, and the opinions seem all over the place on an IPD Turbo cam versus this Volvo "A" cam, which I have no knowledge about.

I welcome all logic based opinions on both cams, and if the choice is the A cam, where the heck do I get one?

John

Both the A and B cam have been used in turbo engines by Volvo as well as the n/a engines. With the n/a engines you will get about a 10hp increase but the main difference is that you get an engine that revs more freely above 3000. Has a wide power band while still easily passing emissions.

that said i have a B cam for sale

they are very close in lift and duration though not exact.

your trouble imo will likely kill off this change you contemplate.
your distributor is head mounted which mens the camshaft needs to be drilled and tapped to accept this configuration.

i have yet to see one... a or b that is!

Good to hear from you old friend. This all came about as a result of driving a friends '89 745T.
The way the power came on at about 2300 rpm with such pull was impressive. I wanted the same for my '94 945T.
I went ahead and ordered the IPD product, because they were giving them away (almost) for $186.
It's a plug-n-play product, needing only a shim adjustment to get on the road.
Thanks for taking the time to offer your sage advice as always.
      Regards,
      John
