Identify part help (1988 volvo 245 automatic trans) 200 1988

Hi all,

For the past couple weeks, I have been troubleshooting a car that stalls when I put it into gear. I have replaced the spark plugs, cables, distributor cap and rotor, cleaned the MAF, and cleaned the IAC. It does sounds like there is a low idle. I am planning on taking out and cleaning the throttle body soon, once I learn a little bit more about the process (I am a new owner and new to DIY repairs).

Can someone help me identify this screw (circled in yellow)?

Thank you.

The FAQ's also apply to your engine, lots of good information available.

Above is the correct procedure to set "base idle", don't just twist the knob!

Helps to have a Service/Manual.
consider it a textbook.

Also Free on the web: OZ(Aussie Volvo board) has collected a library of Volvo service manuals. Known as GreenBooks.
You will have to Scroll/Hunt thru a long list of (downloadable)PDFs of some Green Books and TPs --- Technical Service issues.

Idle adjustment screw.

Turn it clockwise to lower the idle, turn it counter clockwise to raise the idle.
