Jay;
Congrats on you acquisition, and change of attitude!...great story! It amazing how we change over time...
I think you'll find that the more you work on the car, the more you'll like it...if you're halfway mechanical, you'll appreciate the common sense approach of assembly of the quality parts...
I'd start by removing the trunk lock (easiest access!) and bringing it to a qualified locksmith who will be able to make a key which you can try in the doors (and be pleasantly surprised when it works there also!)...the Ignition Lock and Key will be a bit trickier, as the armored cable was the first line of defense against unauthorized starting and theft, of its day...if you have a Key that works, great, if not, that Locksmith should be engaged again to make a "Key by impression" (yes, this might cost a remote service charge!), and once you have a Key that works, its highly recommended that you make copies, then install a Momentary Start Switch (as MANY have!) to prevent the not uncommon, and dreaded, broken key scenario. Regarding carbs, don't bother with the synchronizing tools until you've familiarized yourself with the carbs...you may then find, as I did, that you just don't need it...suggested reading: https://www.sw-em.com/SU%20Carb%20Service.htm
There a number of weaknesses which you may run across on such a vintage vehicle, most, if not all, are pretty well understood, and able to be simply dealt with, thanks to the quality of original engineering and materials...there's also a lot of experience out there to draw on... such as the various Forums. I also invite you to check out the Tech Articles here: https://www.sw-em.com/techarticles.htm
Cheers
