If you find out that you just can't live without a 240 in the driveway, I am considering selling my '79 244DL in the near future. It's a totally rust-free Texas car, only one owner (before me). 77,000 actual miles, automatic & air cond. (needs freon). Original paint still shines & interior & carpet still look new. Selling to make room in the garage so I can start restoring my '68 1800S this winter. I also want to sell my '68 122, 2 dr. which I totally restored over the last 10 years. I'd love to keep a 240 in the driveway but even with the 240s I've owned I've always stuck to LH2.4 system. My nephew got rid of a nice '81 coupe a few years back that had the fog lights in the grille that I passed on. I guess at my age I'm not willing to learn the K-Jet system nor am I looking for a project where I'd swap things out.

There was a '90 240 available in my area 2 weeks back that had a great body but it had mechanical and interior issues. I easily could have bought it and transferred over the engine and interior, tires, rims, etc. but I'm getting a little long in age and am not into a project at this time.

Now that the kind of future owner that you are looking for!

A person that has a younger body than both the ages of two 1990's combined!
That way he has the experience to know what he is getting in a bargain.
If any person willing to locate a good body and there are plenty them around, a good car could be had with just shuffling some parts in rearranging them!

I'm 70 and have six of them to keep me busy doing maintenance and allowing them to age gracefully, like me!

Actually I fall into that category but at this time I'm quite busy with other aspects of my life. In a couple of years after I retire I might have taken up such a project.

At this point I'm more inclined to work on my '96 Mercedes S320. It's such a more comfortable ride - especially on the road. It has a later version of the LH fuel injection system which I have a pretty good understanding.

We have had at least one 240 in the driveway for over 25 years and I'm going to miss them but where I live they are all going to rust. They're pretty rare around here anymore.

Exactly, I rarely see 240’s anymore here in MA. Road salt and harsh winters have done them in.

Presuming you don't mean the plastic bag, that keyhole shaped gasket goes between the upper and lower parts of the 4 cylinder K-jet air/fuel control unit.

It must have come with the whole engine gasket kit I bought like 5 years ago when I re-sealed the engine. I was getting a new driveway put in and I wanted to make sure I had no oil leaks. While the engine was out I re-painted it as well. That's why it looks bright in the pictures. In the gaskets I list is one piece oil pan gasket from Volvo. The ones from gasket kits are typically 3 pieces.

Thanks for correcting the link Art. I'm stumped as to what that particular gasket is for. At first I thought it was for the tailshaft housing but that isn't right. It was in my box labelled Volvo Gaskets but I can't place it on the engine nor transmission.

I have to let it go because the rust is starting to weaken structural components. Earlier this year the rear transmission crossmember rusted through and almost dropped the tranney. That was replaced but the channels that it bolts to are getting weak as well. The final straw was the rear trailing arms are so rusty they are getting close to failing. One has a crack where the spring attaches.

Interesting the trailing arm bushings are still original - outlasting the actual trailing arm. Included in the package is a TAB tool and Lemfoerder bushings.
