So I got the 25 tooth gear thinking it would fix my odometer. Got the speedometer out and disassembled it to find that it wasn't that gear at all but the black gear that sits beneath the "plate" on which the 25 tooth gear sits. The bottom gear was almost completely disintegrated. What is this gear? where do i find one? Mine is a '91 240 wagon.

Sounds like you might be talking about a "gear pod" versus the 25 tooth gear, he sells both. Hope it helps!

I think this may be the same source of parts posted by mikeswanson on Dave's page...

On the earlier cars (140, 164, 240) you use the mechanical speedometer gears from their site. Also, Dave's instructions for removing the needle are for the later years and will not work on the mechanical speedometer cars in my experience.
