new nuts necessary when replacing rear springs and shocks? oops 240 not 740 700 1991

I have a 91 240 & 740, meant to post 240, but thinking is the same? Looks like new nuts needed on springs but not shocks

sorry to seem snarky, but can't you tell? It's not like asking do I need a new AMM, or do I need a new Tranny, or is my ignition system shot.

Will a 'new nut' break your bank accnt....and require a loan????

      Good Grief

Yes, I feel too snarky. Took several local calls to find nobody had them locally. Then went online to try to locate. Took 4 business days to arrive and cost was $49 including shipping. 2 springs were only $70. So not as cheap or as simple as you incorrectly assumed.

Do not reuse damaged nuts – if they are the washer head ones they can be replaced by a standard M12 nut

Very hard to locate the appropriate nuts and bolts, didn't want to wait a few days to finish the job. I would guess the new nuts and plates and bolts may run around $75, it's not like I can run out to the hardware...

If you are prepared to order from Europe, you will probably find all you need at the SKANDIX website. They have all the 940 series fasteners but I haven't checked for 240 stuff.

For the 940 suspension the recommendation is to use "new fasteners" every time for certain fastenings. Usually ones which are angle tightened. The Volvo nuts are "out-of-round" and self locking.

The problem here is not the cost but obtaining fasteners of adequate quality and design.

I do reuse original fasteners if I judge the application to be safe enough, with some thread lock. Otherwise I get Volvo fasteners.

After driving 100 miles I heard a knock & took the wheel off & had to retorque the shock bolt
