Hi,
The dash cover I have on my 1993 is made by DashMat and it fits nicely but differently than an earlier model called Dashhugger.
The Hugger was stitched together to be all one piece, no gaps just a light cross over snitching. where as the Mat has two slits that make the drops from the upper hood over the instruments. The Mats Edges are all have a thread binding loops that was the same on the hugger.
Both have acceptable looks it was the “fit” that held it in place were the DashMat uses Velcro tabs underneath.
I use to get the hugger out in Arizona at a RV “get together” in Quartzite, Az. They were made on the spot in a tent. Of course this was way back in the eighties and nineties. They ran about $20 for sedans and more for Motorhomes.
I looked up Dashhugger by a phone number on the label. It is no longer in service. It was located in the San Diego area and makes sense being that Quartzite is so close.
I’m suspicious that they got bought out or morphed into the DashMat conglomerate.
I put in the name Dashhugger.com and is linked to DashMat but there are several other links plugged in there too! So it gets confusing to whom is whom selling what very quickly.
You have to be careful as to respect but the true DashMat logo is on the right hand corner of this one.
Dashhugger put theirs on the underside with the phone number and stated made in California.
So, the mindset is similar but more now in your face, of course, being that it’s all about “Brand names” anymore.
The last two used cars I purchased had dash covers already of which helped the sales in my opinion.
In fact the 1992’s car, from David Samuels of Wagonmeister fame, has a rear deck or package tray cover made out of the same material as its dash cover. Very much like carpet as it is light but plush.
These two items have no name tags so it either came with the car as he found it or he has them made. Knowing him and his ways of doing over cars, either is very likely!
You might want to contact him if you are interested for more information on all types of upgrades for a 240.
In any case both are upgrades over a split/ cracked dash and sun beaten plastic seat belt covers.
The cover also drapes over the top of the back seat. That’s a plus IMO.
Who ever made it does a good job.
Let’s us know what you zero in on!
Phil
