Crank pulley tool for aftermarket pulleys? IPD tool doesn't fit. 200

I replaced my (pretty worn and probably original) crank pulley with a new replacement. Aftermarket of course, since you can't get them from Volvo anymore. The trusty tool I'd bought from IPD wouldn't fit it, the holes in the pulley are too small. I'd read about this issue before but was hoping I'd be able to avoid it, since that tool makes the job so much easier.

I zipped if off with the impact, and carefully gave it a few taps when retightening, but I don't really trust it to not go flying off at some point. I know about the rope trick, and I know about putting it in gear and putting the e-brake on, but what I really want is a tool that fits. (I also like the excuse to buy a new tool)

Is there a tool out there that fits these smaller holes? Should I just bite the bullet and file out the holes on the pulley? I didn't in this case, since I was worried about throwing it out of balance (perhaps I am being too cautious here). Or is it as simple as buying a different aftermarket brand? For reference, the one I used is ScanTech (I know, I know).

Any and all thoughts welcome!

Black or silver crank pulley counterhold? 200

I have the silver cast alloy one from SPX or OPS or whomever they are that make Volvo tools.

Or the aftermarket black one like you get at iPd made of plate steel?

You're approaching this from the wrong direction. File the lugs on the holdfast until they fit the holes in your aftermarket harmonic balancer.

Believe me, you can remove a lot of meat from those lugs before you have to worry about something untoward happening.

Carefully use a file, leave your angle grinder at home.

Did this on my bench grinder, actually, but could only really take material off the outside radius of the prongs. I removed as much as I was comfortable removing before I started to worry about the integrity of the tool.

**********I started to worry about the integrity of the tool*********

Recall the other methods for removing the Crank pulley are: The Rope Trick jamming a Piston at Top of stroke -- one piston; or In Gear and Hand Brake on.

How much torque do you think is applied to the 3 Prongs on the steel Holder Tool.
        80-100 ftlbs?

On my early 240 with a B21 Engine No Harmonic Balance on the Crank wheel---Solid.
I use a Chain link Vice Grip over a Fanbelt to hold the crank pulley.

File more off the Tool, with a hand file. It's a solid steel pegged (3 of them) Tool.

I'd file the Tool teeth to fit the smaller holes... if you were going to file anything.

Forgot to mention that I tried that. I took off as much material as I was comfortable doing before I gave up.
