DRAIN HOSE 200

1908 Volvo 245 - above the hood realease handle I see a 1/4" hose which is open and not connected to abything- is this a water drain hose?

If so it is directed on to the carpet - no good

Where does it feed to please.

    DRAIN HOSE 200

I've owned an '81 242 DL since 1986. It has a sunroof and cruise control.

The only drain hose would be from the sunroof but that would run inside the window frame and exit out the door frame between the upper and lower hinges. The hose would be a clear plastic hose about 1/2" in diameter.

The only vacuum line on the driver's side would be from the cruise control servo to a vacuum switch on the brake peddle.

Does your car have speakers in the front doors? Is the hose thin black plastic and looks like it might be a wire covering? The door speaker wires should run from the radio and down behind the fuse panel to the door frame. Then into the edge of the door to the speaker. The passenger door speaker should be the same.

    DRAIN HOSE 200

It has been a long time since I have poked around under the dash of a earlier 240 and can't remember if cruise control was an option at that time. If so and you car is equipped with that it could well be a vacuum hose that has come loose from one of the components in that system.

I would look on the engine side of the firewall for a hose like that. If it is a vacuum hose you should at least plug the end dangling in the cabin to stop any vacuum leaks (assuming the other end is plugged into something)

I don't think there is any type of drain hose that small or under the dash.

OK Thanks - no cruise etc. Just a plain old 240 - love it!

Glad its not for drainage - carpet is not wet

If it's the hose I'm thinking about it's a flex conduit the goes from the engine bay to inside under the desh for running wire for accessories. Things like cruz control, oil pressure gage etc. You should be able to find the other end in the engine bay next to the fire wall. It may have a little rubber dunce cap on it.
