Hi,
I see you are working with a 1990 cruise control and want to put it on a 1993.
I have a ‘93 with cruise but I do not have access to it for the summer, otherwise, I could look on that car for you. I have realized that they look interchangeable as well.
I would like to add a cruise to either my automatic 1992 or my manual 1991.
I have picked up most of the parts to try that!
Did you ever find the clip-in surround window for the tachometer? I might have a spare laying about someplace I can spare to lose!
I thought I would warn you and advise you to be careful about plugging anything onto the back of speedometers. Especially, any loose and unidentifiable wires as this has caused speedometer failure on earlier models.
Now with this said, I have noticed things about the 1992 and 1993 model years having different speedometers than earlier models.
In fact both these cars vary in wiring and component location from my 1991, in several ways.
I suspect and have no proof that but, As far as I can tell, the cruise controls use a signal given out from the ECU that was processed or passed on over from the electronic speedometer.
I have also read that the 1992-93 models also have some connections making the idling or performance of the car change?
So if you cannot find the orange signal wire connector on the back of the speedometer it probably doesn’t use one from there!
Don’t go adding anything to the cluster that wasn’t already on it from the factory.
I suggest you look along the harness coming back from the cabins passenger side of the car where the ECU and ICU hang out up on the firewall inside there.
Please verify anything you find over there and don’t trust blind faith.
There should be someone someplace on the board that can help you!
Dave Stevens and Art Benstein have extensive experience in taking the cars apart and analyzing them up the wa-zoo! (:-)
Maybe they will slide by soon or change this thread into another thread topic?
