240 wipers clunking

1993 Volvo 240 wagon has clunking from at the pivot points, I don’t believe it’s the motor since I removed that little arm on the backside of the motor and let it run by itself without any noise.
Has anyone encountered warn shafts or anything else that would attribute to this annoying problem ?

Most cars these days have little nylon bushings where the linkage arms connect. They get old/brittle/worn/broken and can generally be replaced. Some of the auto parts stores sell little assortment packs with different sizes included. I wouldn’t be surprised if the dealer still stocks them.

Since the Volvo 687782 nylon bushings are not available on the internet that I can find with my misc. ramblings…..The Dorman are domed and don’t look like they work without modification. Any generic models come to mind with a part number?

So did you chase down the problem to those bushings, or is it something more serious?

I see what you mean by the part being out of stock everywhere. You might try Planetman (Eric) that frequents this site. It might be something he has in stock. It may end up that you have to get like a Dorman assortment and modify one to fit your car.
