Defrost????? 444-544

Already being the second owner of a nice 65 Amazon for the last 15 years now I added to my stable a split windshield 1958 PV444 and oh surprise, this car does not have defroster vents for the front windshield (incredible). Has anybody found a solution to this.

Something's odd. 444 and 445 models do have defrost vents - slots along the forward edge of the dash. They also have slats, held in place with clips and screws, that direct the air toward the glass. The slats often go missing.

The 544 has vents. I've seen the vents on a couple of local cars. But my 444 has NO vents, even under the dash has no connectors or way to send air to defrost vent.

The 544 does have vents. The 444 and 445 models, instead of separate vents, have slots in the top of the metal dash, right up close to the windshields. The dash iteself is a chamber that gets warm air from the heater tube, which connects just off center from below. Normally the air that comes out of the slots is directed by the slats I mentioned earlier but these slats often go missing.

You can see the slots - but not the slats - pretty well in this video:

Hi, the attached brochure refers to defroster vents on a 444. Brochure appears to have been published in 1957.
