Fuel injector change 1800

So an injector has to be replaced on the ‘71 1800E and I order a new one. But it isn’t like the original Bosch injectors. The Pintle is 1/4” shorter and has three orifices instead of one. Folks I got it from online say it’ll work just fine, even though it’s made differently. Made in USA. Electrical connection looks to be correct.
Anyone had experience with after market injectors for Bosch D-Jetronic?
Thanks. Mike

Don’t use it. The chances of that injector’s flow rate being the same as the other three is extremely slim.

What’s wrong with the one you are replacing?

I had all four tested and reconditioned. One failed even though the winding tests good. No fuel at all from the orifice. Fuel pressure good at 28. Increased psi. No luck. Engine runs, but with a dead cylinder on 4.

Finally got the BA injector installed and engine running well. Don’t understand why it works, but it does. Thanks to all.

Installed but not run yet. The entire fuel rail was all to pieces. Long story. Will advise. Thanks again.

Winding tests good but no fuel flow at all.

Where did you get it? What’s the brand and part number ? I have the appropriate Beck Arnley injectors in my 1800E and they work just fine. Bosch rebuilt injectors are available from Iroll Motors and a few other places. You can also get your injectors tested and cleaned at many places.

New injector is a Beck/Arnley 158-0438.
I believe the vendor was Classic Volvo Restoration on line. They claim it will work and be compatible with the existing injectors. My confusion is how an injector with three orifices is compatible with those which have but one orifice. Unless the B/A part was manufactured as a replacement for the original equipment. I haven’t installed the new one yet.

Irregardless of your observation on the number of orfices…
That’s the correct injector for this engine. It will run just fine. Don’t think zebras when you hear hoof beats. Having said that, put it in and see what it does. Yes the BA injector is an exact replacement for the original Bosch injectors. If you’re stuck on having original Bosch injectors, you can get one from Iroll Motors.
