1993 240 Wagon - Drivers Seat 200

Is there any way to get the seat to move back about 1-2". I find when driving I could use a bit more space between the pedals and steering wheel. Its an automatic.

My other 245 is a 1980 M46 and has more front seat room. So I have that one to compare it to

Any ideas appreciated.

Playing with your seat height and back tilt can often give you a bit more knee room between the pedal and steering wheel, although your thighs may be up tighter to the wheel than you’d like. There are levers under both the front and back of your driver seat in case you haven’t discovered the rear one.

Wagonmeister of California made a kit that moves the rails back using an adapter plate to relocate the front bolt and a spacer tube with a long bolt for the rear bracket. I believe they still make them, but perhaps a but pricey at $200+shipping www.wagonmeister.com/seat-rail-extension-kit-for-240 With a bit of effort you could probably fashion your own, but do remember that solid seat mounting is critical for crash safety.

I have a very, very vague recollection that the Volvo 140s had accommodations for taller Swedes, either an optional longer seat rail or there were two mounting positions for the standard rail. That obviously didn’t carry over into the 240 series, possibly for safety reasons.

It's always made me wonder -- that the 240 doesn't seem to have a whole lot of movement away from the pedals and steering wheel. I thought Swedes are built large. But--have you played with the front and rear tilt adjustment? - Dave
