Where does this hose go?

Came off when I was reinstalling the fuel rail. Don't know where the other end fits.

Good news is, four new injectors in the car and the fuel system is completely clean.

Where does this hose go?

Hi,

You can do better than I can since you can post up your own pictures.

That hose is short enough to connect to the flame trap screen holder that has a nipple sticking out to one side towards where that hose is pointing too.
It all hides just below the intake runners between the three and four cylinders.
It is down and to the left or the area rear of the engine.
It connects the horizontal hose from the side of accordion hose in front of the throttle body

Where does this hose go?

I just figured out how to post pics, upload it to the BrickPix from your device and then add it to your post. I'll have to post some pictures of the varnished fuel system components that came from a car that sat for ten years with about 3/4 tank of fuel in it.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was something to do with the flame trap, the car is up on four jack stands right now so it was kind of hard to get under there to figure it out myself. That line is really dry rotted, I'm going out tomorrow to get a piece of hose to replace it.

Where does this hose go?

Hi,

I agree that 3/4 of a tank of gas turning to gel must have been horrific!
It will be informative to those that kiss off the idea of just parking a car with gasoline in it for long periods.
Just seeing some in the bottom of a lawnmower gas tank is problematic in itself to clean.
Hard to imagine 12 gallons.
How did you determine that there was that amount in there?
Was there rust above the varnish line inside the tank?

Phil

Where does this hose go?

Machine man, there was about 3-4 inches of sludge in the bottom and the liquid in it was the color of strong, black coffee, and smelled like paint thinner. When I took the tank off there was that much that I got out with a transfer pump. It was amazing.

I pulled the entire fuel system except the metal return line. My plan is to put fresh 100% gas in the main supply from the pump to the motor and blow it through with compressed air until clean gas comes out the other end. I don't trust Gumout or Gunk to do that without destroying the plastic and rubber. All the other lines are getting replaced, except the metal return. I blew Gumout through it and it is clean now.

The guy I got it from told me the story. He got it from a very elderly woman's family. She had stopped driving and parked it with a tarp over it about ten years ago. Her family had a yard sale and he offered on it and they sold it to him. First thing he did when he got it home was try to start it, and he said he actually got it running for about five minutes, then it quit. What he managed to do of course was pull that sludge and varnish through the fuel system and ruin things.

Both fuel pumps worked but were full of varnish, sending unit, filter all ruined. The sending unit was nothing more than two sticks. All replaced. The injectors were completely clogged and the pintels were completely crusted. There was no practical way to even try to salvage them. The fuel rail was full of that sludge and black coffee gas. I had to disassemble everything and clean it with carb cleaner. Got new injectors and a new fuel pressure regulator. Got a used fuel tank for it that is clean, no rust, no pinholes. I'm going to have to take that old tank to hazmat.
All that I'm waiting for is the clamp that holds the filler neck on the tank and I can put it all together and see what happens.

This car has a nearly perfect interior and exterior, no rust, cam is turning, getting spark. Logically when I get the new tank on and everything put back it SHOULD run although maybe not perfectly. It is a car very much worth saving.
