Bosch distributor bush 700 1991

I am posting this because I could not find information when I dropped the carbon bush from my distributor on a gravel path and was unable to find it. I needed a new one in a hurry. On line, I found lots of suppliers of Bosch #1234321000,used in many vehicles, but no information on whether it would fit my Volvo 700 wagon B230F engine. It looked about the right size. I am in a remote location and buy most parts online. I ordered it and it fits. I used a wire hook to pull out the old spring from the brass housing in the middle of the cap and pushed the new spring, which was supplied attached to the new carbon bush, into place with a small flat blade screwdriver. My distributor is the type mounted horizontally between the head and the firewall, with the coil lead at the base and spark plug leads on top.

If you can do the research as to what other models of Volvos use that carbon piece (I'll call it a brush) I have plenty of used Bosch distributor caps for 240 and 140 models. You can have the brush for the cost of a postage stamp. I can certainly relate--years ago I had my Bugeye Sprite at my dad's place of work to wash the motor. The car would not start afterwards. Figured it might need a day to dry--took the subway and bus home. Next day found the carbon brush under the car--must have fallen out when I opened the cap to help dry it out. -- Dave
